Paul H.T.M. van de Camp and Koen Olthuis MSc shared their vision of changing their mindset of fighting against the water into living with the water. Together they established in 2005 Dutch Docklands, a new innovative company in a new global market that they have created themselves, based on hundreds of years of experience in the Netherlands in working with the water. Their vision has become worldwide recognized by media like CNN, Timemagazine and Terra Eco (Koen voted as one of the 100 green persons who will change the world in 2011).
PAUL H.T.M. van de CAMP
Paul van de Camp graduated from the International University of Hospitality Management The Hague, The Netherlands. At the start of his career he was given the unique opportunity to become the youngest General Manager of a 5*Hotel (Relais&Chateaux) and its 2 star Michelin restaurant. Afterwards he became an entrepeneur and started a chain of restaurants and hotels. He became more involved in property development and was a founder of several real estate companies.
Koen Olthuis MSc
Koen Olthuis is a Dutch architect. He studied architecture and industrial design at Delft University of Technology. Olthuis is founder of the Dutch architectural firm, Waterstudio.nl, that specializes in floating structures to counter concerns of floods and rising sea levels. In 2007, Olthuis was ranked #122 in TIME Magazine's readers' poll of "the most influential people of the year". In 2010, together with David Keuning, Olthuis authored a book called Float, which discusses construction on water.
